Old Dogs New Trick
Fronted by vocalist Ashlie Johnson, Old Dogs New Trick brings a new twist to the stage with soulful renditions of classic and contemporary blues and in-your-face adaptations of great rock songs, both the well-known and the obscure. Touching every era, ODNT's setlist is sure to please everyone.
Biography Ashlie mixes a love for Chicago and Delta Blues with contemporary music, and even her stoic German classical voice teacher from high school days would be proud of her stage presence and powerful vocals. Her voice is polished from years of performing with choirs and choruses - with a touch of blues gravel from smoky bars and 120db refrains.
Her old man - Ron Johnson, is the oldest of the old dogs, with about 46 years of playing - the last 3 being the best stage experience yet. Retired from his day job, and playing the music he loves with his daughter - what could be better?
Tyler Johnson (no relation to the other 2) brings a masterful bass groove to the group, backed by many years of performing with top groups around the state. Ty is what every band needs - that rock solid bottom - and a great sense of humor.
Joe Durow (the only non-Johnson) has been working the sticks since high school, and still performs occasionally with some of his old classmates with the Narley Barley Boys. Joe's experience is obvious - always tight - and equally creative.
